My Gas boiler ( a Crown Aruba) shut down one night and did not come back on the next morning as scheduled. I was informed by service company that the problem was due to frozen pipes and the boiler was working properly. The unit will shut on only when water is drained from the system but then soon shuts off after about 1 minute. When the thermostat is adjusted to a higher level the heating unit does not respond. I have replaced the batteries in the thermostat which is about 2 year old. As a result of the heating not coming on for several days, a pipe burst on one the baseboard heaters. The entire apt building uses baseboard heaters and there are no valves attached like the old fashioned radiators. Any suggestions?

Sorry, no I don't. This is a big expensive problem. It can be fixed, just going to take allot of labor and cost. If boiler was off for even a short while, the main supply or return could have froze in extreme cold. Look for any places air could come in and freeze a pipe. Also running the pump continuous even tho the boiler won't fire the pipes won't freeze. Of coarse a bad pump, or loss of power won't save you.
