We both love each other. And few days back my girlfriends dad came to know about our relationship which is about 5 years. She has fought hard for some days but her dad is very adamant about not giving her to me. And now she tells me that she is the only daughter for her parents and she does not want to hurt her parents. She will marry me only if her dad agrees upon it. Please help. How do I make her strong to stand up to her dad..

It's unfortunate that your GF has felt it necessary to hide you from her parents all these years - is there some specific reason for this? Maybe you need to meet with the parents so they can see that you would be good for their daughter.

the only specific reason is that her dad would get hurt at the time of marriage and that people will talk bad about him and also cause she is the only daughter.

Is arranged marriages more common in your country or culture. Have you considered having a elder male from your family go talk to him?

Also never answered, why if you have been dating for 5 years have you not officially meet her father. I can understand that he would be very upset to learn she has done this for all this time without his permission.
