We rushed him to nearest vet and he was injected by an antibiotic but nothing has change his situation. He rejects any food we served him, good thing he drinks every time he vomits. Please help me what to do to help my dog, there is no resident vet med here I our town who perform surgery in animals. I t pains me even more seeing him in so much pain.

If there's a blockage or tear giving antibiotics will do nothing, I'm shocked the vet did not take more action than that or at least inform you of how serious this is!

Don't offer him any more food, just call around vets, even if you have to travel he needs to go in immediately.

Are you absolutely, positively sure he ate a rib bone? Wouldn't be the first time we have been mistaken about what the dog did or didn't eat. Must not have convinced the vet if he didn't want an X-ray.

As for what else, if it was a pork rib, there had to have been some pork to go with it. Did he also get some of the meat and fat to go with it? If so, it could be something like pancreatitis, and that could be worse than a bone.

Depression comes with pancreatitis, because it also hurts and they feel 'punky'. A bone in the stomach usually doesn't depress them much, and they will still eat, for a while at least. And, it's also possible that he is suffering both things !

Too much is unknown here to even begin suggest what possible treatment he should have, until you find out for certain. Might consider going back to, maybe, a different vet... or one with a bit more curiosity? Either problem warrants more than an antibiotic shot (even if it is be justified with pancreatitis). If you're waiting for a bone to 'pass', or not, you could have a long, worried wait... if he didn't swallow it.

Have another go at the vet and make him give you some answers about the possibilities and what can be done to find out.
