All tax experts:
I am a permanent resident in usa, married and plan to file 2006 tax return using married jointly.
My parents came to USA in NOV 20th, 2006 to visit us and live with us until November
2007. I provide them all the living costs.
May I claim them as my dependents using first year choice? I plan to file extension form 4868, wait until June then apply for ITIN (tax number) for them using W-7.
Another choice is that i file my 2006 return first(I will get around $3000 refund), then after June, using 1040X to add my parents as my dependents, this will work or not?
Please advise.
Any answer will be appreciated.

Thank you for your answer. You are really expert.

By the way, what is the first year choice statement? The note I have to put on my tax return like using first year choice or something like Essay?
