My dog is in labor. She started panting heavy and nesting about 9 hrs ago. About an hour ago she had a slightly colored discharge come out of her vagina(greenish/yellowish). She licked it up and all traces of it. She continues to nest and pant and shake. Should I be concerned. I ask because I have looked on numerous sites and some say get to the vet right away and some say this discharge is normal. She if not in any distress other then the obvious panting and shaking I believe to be caused by labor

She is a
2 1/2 yr old Chocolate lab
Day 61 of pregnancy almost day 62
Good health and hips

Also I do not need any responses saying "don't breed if you don't know" or any other negative comments.

The fact is I love my dog and care for her so if you care for dogs then please help instead of "bash"

Thank you all

Greenish discharge is normal during labor, the green color comes from where the pups are separating from the uterine wall and getting ready to make their way out.

Because she is a few days early I would just keep a very close eye on her, while green discharge during labor is normal, discharge any earlier can be a problem. If you notice her seeming overly distressed or if she is having contractions and not producing puppies for no more than 2 hours then it's off to the vet. Same goes for when she finally delivers the first puppy, no more than 2 hours in between pups or it's off to the vet.
