My husband of 6 years has left me and our young children for another woman. He states that he will be entitled to 50% of the household goods can he do this?

Again it depends on the state, but yes, it is not uncommon that all property and moneys gained during your marriage, be divided up equally.

Also in some US states the stay at home partner or the lower paid partner may get alimony also.

Of course then there will be the issue of child custody and child support.

At this point you need a very good divorce attorney to protect your legal rights
