My situation is complicated, but aren't they all! Anyway, without writing a book about what is happening I'm hoping I can get a question answered. I have a niece who is in foster care (2 months now) in Oklahoma. I live out of state and have been working diligently with my state to get licensed for foster care. I have a good relationship with the DHS case manager in Oklahoma who supports placement with me if my sister doesn't?t get things headed in the right direction. Another family member, who lives in a travel trailer/5th wheel in Tulsa with her husband and 2 small children, has expressed interest in kinship placement and my sister has told her case manager she wants this to happen. I am concerned if this placement is approved that I will not be considered for permanency placement. Will DHS place a child with a family in a 5th wheel even if it?s not in the best interest of the child just because they are family and are in the same state?

Because the Mom requested it. They will check out the family. However if they dont have the room or the income it will not happen. It's also a first come first serve kind of thing.
