You're trying to connect a DVD player to the DirecTv box? Why? My DirecTv box is connected directly to the TV and then my DVD player is connected to a different port on the TV. Nothing is connected to the DirecTv box other than the dish cable coming into the house.

Maybe I don't understand...What are you trying to do?
