I have been unemployed for year. Before that I was only making about 800.00 a month. So I stopped making payments to HSBC because I needed food, water, gas in my car and rent. Now they are suing me for 8000.00 and I am on unemployment. Can the take it from me when am only getting 800.00 dollars a month?

Where?

I believe that Unemployment can only be garnished for child support and alimony in the US.

First they can of course get a judgement, and often will to protect their rights to collect latter.

Once they take this to court, there will be legal and court fees added. So they can wait, 3 year, 5 year, 10 year till you get a job to garnish your pay
