My wife recieved her ITIN number last year in 2005 how do i file taxes this year electronically??? What category should I use and should I use her ITIN number in place of the SSN column??

Yes, put her ITIN where her SSN would go.

What is your visa status? When did you first enter the U.S.?

Thanks for your reply. I am on H1 B and have been in US since 2001. I filed for my taxes directly at the IRS office last year when I was applying for the ITIN # for my wife. But I just want to make sure that I file for "Married filing jointly" this year. Moreover the efile website shows my wife's ITIN number as incorrect SSN when entered.

Yes, Married Filing Jointly is the correct filing status for you.

As for the ITIN, first, double-check the ITIN against the document the IRS issued to you. If it's correct, try a different software. If that does not work, file manually.
