I'm a 13 year old girl and I feel that I want to go into care.
I have many reasons for this: I have been bullied at every single school I've been in and I'm fed up of where I live. I'm always arguing with my mum and step-dad and sometimes it ends up in my step-dad walking out for the night. I also suffer from depression, which my parents do not know about, and have never noticed that I have self-harmed in the past. I don't want to tell them anything anymore, as it will end up in an argument, and me feeling very embarrassed, and I've never told them I want to go into care. Please help me, I don't know what to do.

Talk to someone at your school - a teacher, an advisor. Tell them that you are cutting (or whatever you are doing to self harm). Tell them that you want to move out of your parents' home

Is moving in which your father or another relative an option?

Has your depression been diagnosed? I believe more people cut and/or self harm to get out of emotional pain than because of depression but a Physician could help you with that.

Are there no relatives who see the situation and want to help you?

No, my father has a one bed flat and I wouldn't be able to move in with another family member.

I haven't told anyone in my family, only my closest friends know.

Really, you should. Perhaps a grandparent, someone at school?

You sound SO very unhappy and at 13 there is little you can do along - that's the problem with being 13. Would the parent of a friend perhaps be willing to listen to you and offer you some help?

Foster care won't make problems go away, but will give you a bunch more. (What on earth do you think foster care will accomplish?)

What you need to do, instead of going into foster care, is deal with your problems where you are right now. You are keeping far too many secrets about yourself. It's time you talk to a counselor and get stuff out into the daylight.

Does your school have a counselor?

Yes but... I am scared that all the consular will do is tell the principal and he will call my parents telling them... and I have a friend who's mom said she would adopt me and her family are super nice understanding people

Unfortunately, it's not that easy and doesn't work that way. The counselor is supposed to keep your confidence.

Well welcome to my world where this has happened to someone before that is a good friend and she got lashed in the back. I just don't want my parents to go "WHO GAVE YOU THIS MONSTROUS IDEA?!?!" and search through all of my private things for the info they want. Because I mean they expect me to be a compleat open book! They even went through my diary's right in front of me once! And could you explain how it works... no one told me how it does...

You need your parents' signed permission in order to be adopted. Would they sign?

You know, your attitude here is unnecessary, unwelcome and a big turn off. Wondergirl is one of the MOST respect participants on this Board. I know you're frustrated and upset. She did nothing but try to help you.

They expect you to be a complete open book because you're in their house and they pay the bills. You may not like it, but that's their right.

And, again, I'd drop the attitude toward the very people who are trying to be helpful. Welcome to MY ADULT world! Why would ANYONE try to pitch in and help you when you come back at them in this manner? YOUR WORLD, indeed.

If you already have all the answers, why are you posting here?

Hate to be rude but shut up! I was bullied in every school I went to, and when I got PUT into care nothing changed, just the people I was with and the house I lived in! So just deal with what youv got, and count yourself lucky!
