This is something I want to know too but I would think emailing the coaches and doing what you do best on the floor are the best things to do and try to help your team make the playoffs

You play well and you play hard and you play by the rules and are not just a good team player, but a great team player. You show support for the other members of your team, looking out not just for yourself, but others. Respecting the coach and staff and your fellow team mates. It is more than physical ability - although physical ability gets you noticed by college recruiters. Practice, practice, practice. Being consistent in your play, showing improvement and willingness to grow and learn.

You also need some pretty darn good grades. Scholarships are not given to the C student, at least not the 4 year full ride athletic scholarships.

To get a scholarship.
Play your best
Play as a team player
Get your grades up this is the most important factor as a b grade player with a 1600+ SAT score is more likely to get one than an A+ with a 1150 score.
Believe in urself
And set goals like a scoring average.
From experience,
Word of mouth gets around pretty fast in some towns.
And scouts don't care about recommendations
If you play in a tournament and standout you will more than likely be seen but not offered.
It drops down to luck and support I guess.
