I have a gas burner, which is about 30 years old. It still seems to run rather well. My question is....

What should the temperature settings on the burner itself be set at during the winter season? Im looking for the most efficient setting. I have baseboard heating, and it is an L shaped ranch house.

To answer your question there are a number of factors to consider, the mat'l of your baseboards ie: cast iron ,copper tube and fin, what type of burner do you have- natural gas,propane. And your home is it a newer home or >25 yrs.

For maximum efficiency you need to

Find out the lowest temp the boiler will work at without condensing. (usually over 130 degrees)

Also you will need to maintain a boiler temp that will allow the boiler to heat the house at the lowest outside design temperature.
