Hi my nieces have recently been taken in to foster care, I want them to live with us I have contacted social services but the parents don't want me to have the kids. What can I do to get these kids and what support can I get.

If you have contacted social services regarding the children and they have told you the parents don't want you to have them, then you will have live with that answer. There must be a good reason why.

They don't want us to have the kids because I don't get on with them because of the way they have treated the children.

Just let social services know you are the kids legal relatives & give them your phone number.
They would rather place them with you rather than foster care because it's better for the children and cheaper than foster care. All parents who get their kids taken away have got to be royally pissed off and resentful.
They will check your house to make sure it's clean and safe.
Let us know what happens, good luck

Sometimes it all depends on the plan. YOu let them know you are willing to help, and they will contact you if that is in the best interest of the children at this time. You can call to check in from time to time. But that is the best you can do. You might be able to ask if you can visit the kids.

Vicki is right.

I would advise you to call the caseworker that is handling the case, and request a meeting. A phone call isn't enough. These children are your blood relatives, and regardless of what the parents think of you, or what the parents want, the only issue is what is in the best interest of the children.

If you are willing and able to provide for these children, you will at least be given some consideration, and will become part of the direction they take with the kids. While they may, for whatever reason, decide that they are better in a foster home, you will hopefully be considered at the very least for regular visitation. This would be good for the children, particularly at Christmas time, birthdays, school events, etc.

Good luck to you.
