My hot water heater has rusted out on the bottom I went to home depot and they told me that there is a new code law in the state of maryland that all hot water heaters have to have an over flow tank added to their system so I am trying to find out if this is correct or not cause I have never heard of it and I had another company come out today and they never said anything about this overflow tank so are you able to tell me anything about this required law thanks carolyn

I can't say if Maryland requires them, but they are needed in many cases. I just explained why in http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/plumbing/leaking-h-w-tank-pressure-valve-50901.html
