How long after your missed period should you take a preganacy test

About 2 weeks. Although it does depend on your age, as well as any birth control you are now, or were on in the last year.

Well it all depends on the test. My wife took the test 3 days before her period was even due and it came out positive. This happened each time she was pregnant.

At the same, most tests say as soon as you missed your period even for one day, it should be sensitive enough to detect HCG hormones if your pregnant.

This is not a guarantee. Sometimes taking it too early could cause a negative test, even though there could be a pregnancy.

I agree with J9 it is better to wait a certain amount of time so you do not have to redo tests or get negative tests even though it could well be positive.
