View Full Version : My Step-Mom Is Planning To Adopt Me

My step-mom is planning to adopt me, but my birth-mom just called me for the first time in 6 years and promised that when I get back from vacation we'll hang out. Don't get me wrong, I love my step-mom as if we're related by blood and my step-mom loves me as if she gave birth to me, but the temptation to see my birth-mom is really big. I can't have my feet in both worlds. My dad said that if I want to be able to have my step-mom adopt me I can't hang out with my birth-mom.
My Step-mom is also the best thing that has ever happened to my family. (aka my dad and I) I also now have a little (half) brother who is 2 years old. Except I love him so much I don't think of him as a "half" brother. I think of my birth-mom's son a half brother though. My birth-mom taught me that crying is pointless and she has NEVER said "I love you" to me.
Anyway, I'm conflicted: should I see my birth-mom OR stay away from her till the day we go to court so my step-mom can adopt me?
I just need advice about weather it's a good IDEA to see my birth-mom not weather I SHOULD see her.
Thanks :D

Unless something is missing here you CANNOT be adopted without the written consent of both of your biological parents. If your birth mother doesn't sign your stepmother cannot adopt you.

Honestly, I think everyone involved in this is attempting emotional blackmail where you are concerned ("if you see her you can't ... whatever") and an unrelated party has to listen to all sides and give advice.

I don't know how old you are but if the adoption does go through and then you decide to see your birth mother your life could become really difficult where your father and stepmother are concerned.

I have looked at some of your other threads and think talking to a third person is a very good idea - you seem to have several areas of conflicts in your life.
