Need to cap water main in small town. No curb stops. 1 1/2 abs with valve then goes to 1/2 copper// What is the best way to cap this line as house is moving off..

Hi Joseph:

If the ABS shutoff works I would simply install a 1/2" copper SHARKBITE cap (see images)... available at all larger home supply stores nowadays. These are real simple as they just PUSH onto the pipe and no soldering needed... can even have water in the water line... ;)

Let us know if you want to discuss more... OK?

Mark

PS: They also sell GATORBITE fittings... same as the sharkbite fittings as you just push them onto the pipe to the correct depth and you should be all set.
