Hi there,

Just wondering if you can help me. I notice you have several questions regarding PC's spontaneously rebooting for no apparent reason. My PC also does this but only when I am connected to the internet. It can occur any time after connection - 10 minutes or an hour but generally within the hour, so I have to work really fast! I am running Windows XP and have been using the Mozilla Firefox browser which is better than Internet Explorer but the problem still occurs. The screen goes black, says it is entering sleep mode then reboots itself. Sometimes the firewall comes up with a message that a file with no name is attempting to be added to the startup registry. I always reply "deny". I am wondering if I have had a virus enter the PC and whether I should wipe the hard drive and reload everything - not the best option. I use Vet anti-virus software and the free version of Zone alarm firewall. Hope you can help.

Regards,

Lisa

What level of patching is your machine on as this sounds sinilar to the blaster/sasser worms that where doing the rounds a coupls of years back.
These issues are completely resolved with SP2.

Thanks Curlyben. I am not sure of patch level but will check when I get home. I suspect I may not have SP2. Will give this a try and hope it works! Cheers. :)
