Hello everyone.

First I should let everyone know that I am new to the world of skin lightening and bleaching so ampretty ignorant of most products. I had thought about using Monobenzone(Is Hydroquinone the same thing?) but after having many warn me against it and reading more no it I have decided I shall not try it.

So now I hear of this thing called glutathione and was wondering how well it works?
I have not tried it nut have heard it works to stop youtr skin from making melanin to darken the skin and that vitamin C should be taken with it to help speed the process along. I have also read about kojic soap lightening skin.

So what I want to know is:
Have any of you used this and if so how many shades were you able to lighten using glutathionepills? Once the lightness is achieved how do I maintain it? What are the dangers of using glutathione? Do any of you have before or after photographs to help prove it really did lighten your skin?
Is it OK to use HQ4 alongside the glutathione and how safe is it?

Thanks to all that answer and please no sellers. Now if you bought them from a reputable dealer then please give me the info but no spam.

Thanks

There is no evidence that glutathione tablets actually lighten skin... glutathione is not absorbed when taken by mouth, so such supplements are almost certainly useless.
It may be possible, however, to raise glutathione levels in the body by taking other supplements, such as vitamin C , cysteine, lipoic acid , and N-acetylcysteine

NAC is probably the most recommended and easiest ways to increase your levels orally. NAC is a form of cystine and is a precursor of glutathione. Most doctors recommend around 250mg of NAC daily. Another oral supplement that work is whey protein. Whey protein is high in cystine, which is then converted into glutathione in the body.

Gluta has helped me - in a real minuscule way. But as someone said, it is best with another lightening regimen.

You also need something like vit c in large amounts to help synthesize the gluta. Otherwise it pretty much passes through your system.

Okay update - some veteran SL'er told me that it's the VC that is essentially helping, and not Gluta and not to waste money.

Hmm.

Glut C is a waste of money... try cysteine tablets instead with vit c...

Thanks you two.

So what I get is to not waste my money on G and try taking large amounts of vitamin C. :)

Have any of you used HQ with retin A? Or megablast cream?

Cysteine helps produce more glutathione in your body.. so you can look into that

I wouldn't touch HQ

Glutathione (GSH) is a tripeptide. It contains an unusual peptide linkage between the amine group of cysteine and the carboxyl group of the glutamate side chain. Glutathione, an antioxidant, helps protect cells from reactive oxygen species such as free radicals and peroxides.[2] Glutathione is nucleophilic at sulfur and attacks poisonous electrophilic conjugate acceptors.
Glutathione is an antioxidant, helps protect cells from reactive oxygen species such as free radicals and peroxide.Preliminary results indicate that glutathione changes the level of reactive oxygen species in isolated cells grown in a laboratory,[41] [42] which may reduce cancer development.

Hey,
Im pretty late on this topic.. it is 2011.. but I have to share my experience anyway.

My dermatologist says that on the skin tone chart (it has 6 skin complexions), I am number 4.

Yet, when I look at the "von Luschan Scale", I associate my body parts' colors to swatches from 23-27 (which makes me number 5 on the skin tone chart. But my skin doesn't follow the "number 5" skin's property.. number 5 skin is not suppose to tan or burn.. but I tan horribly, all the time.)

Take a look at the "von Luschan Scale" here - it will help you determine your skin color.

For the 6 tone skin chart that my doctor and most doctors refer to -

So I decided I would give NAC and Vitamin C a try. I went to the market (in Istanbul) and bought 30 capsules of NAC (200 mg each capsule) and vitamin C effervescant tablets (1000mg each).

Since I was absolutely desperate to get a lighter skin - I started with 3 X 200mg NAC twice a day... that makes 1200 mg NAC everyday. After I swallow 3 NAC tablets, I take Vitamin C 1000 mg tablet. I have only done this for 4 days and Im already yellower than before. My boyfriend noticed it and he asked me if I was ill because I looked so "yellow".

This evening when I was getting ready to go out, I just put on a lipstick - no foundation! Because I simply didn't need it as my skin was glowing and I have a more even color!

I had used hair removal cream my face several years ago when I was in school, and it burnt my skin - it left a dark melasma like mask in the area where we use the blush. And I tried to find that area today, it has almost gone away! Like something I had been living with for so many years, just faded away with no real effort or hope from me!

********************************************

I don't know how you guys came to the NAC conclusion but my story is different. Someone very close to me is suffering from cancer. She was my complexion a long time ago, and when she started taking her treatment (chemotherapy etc.), she started to turn white like snow. All this was 7-8 years ago. I hadn't even thought about it until January this year. Then I did my research about cancer, chemotherapy, skin whitening - and of course the moment we type skin whitening plus cancer - thousands of results pop up talking about Glutathione. And then NAC. So that's the way I discovered it. I don't need any proof about whether glutathione can whiten skin, I have a live proof for that.

**********************************

For those of you, who are nearly my complexion and exactly as desperate as myself - do try this regimen. I just know how it feels to want a change this bad. At least, everyone is guaranteed great skin if nothing else :) I just wanted to share my positive experience with everyone. Lastly, Don't TAKE ORAL GLUTATHIONE FOR WHITENING, IT JUST Won't HELP. Read on the internet about the low bioavailability of oral glutathione. Don't be a victim two scammers.
