Most lizards respond well to snake repellants. In North America the best snake repellant is napthalene flakes, the same ingredient in mothballs. Inside one's home, the smell of napthalene can be very strong(not to mention dangerous to small children) so a caustic spice like paprika or other pepper powders can do the job.
