The furnace is 4 months old, in a trailer. Two days ago, I thought I heard metal clanking, like something falling. Since then, the furnace "roars" like a fireplace on initiation of the fan- after I hear the ignition kick in. It was only occasionally, but has become more regular, now.
Thank you.

Contact the company that sold and installed your new furnace. They are usually responsible for the warranty.

Thank you. I thought this was something I should not ignore. I will call as soon as they open this morning. Won't they just love me on this wonderful snowy and cold day.:)

You paid them good money to do a job for you. You should expect prompt and courteous service on that new furnace. If you have some time please post the brand name and Exact model number of the new furnace. I will check on this end to see if there are any listed problems with that unit.

It is a Payne PG9MAB. They talked my roommate through the "fix" over the phone. I am not sure if it is the combustion air intake or the inducer outlet, that's as close as I can guess looking at the book they gave us. Anyway, it has a cap that fits loosely over the opening. It "fell" off? And that caused the loud air noise. All is back to "normal" now (I hope). It is installed upside down because they explained it is a house-not-mobilehome unit and that is what they do. I appreciate your help, and reassurance. Thank you.

They should have installed this special kit for use in a mobile home! This is very important.

I would download and keep a copy of each of these for future reference. They might not be easy to come by in the future.
