So. If any of you know me, I'm always the first one to advise everyone NOT to use any type of chemical peels ESPECIALLY home chemical peels. Well lately there's been a bit of a vitamin c craze going on around the board, so I decided to use a vitamin c serum I found in my mother's cabinet. I thought it was just a regular vitamin c serum (I know I should have read everything more carefully... But I didn't), I noticed my skin started peeling. I thought maybe it was because of the new exfoliating scrub I had started using, so I stopped with the scrub and continued with the serum. Finally I realized it was the serum making my skin peel and not the scrub. So I googled "Skin peeling vitamin c serum" and this site came up: Obagi Medical Products : Pro-C Serum (http://www.obagi.com/article/forphysicians/ourproducts/obagiprofessional-crnserum/pro-cserum.html)

I went back upstairs to check the bottle and realized I was using the 10% concentration of the blue peel serum. A lot of you know that I went to Africa for the holiday vacation, and thought I avoided the sun as much as possible, I did end up getting about 2 shades darker. So I decided, hmmmmm. Why don't I use this to get rid of my tan. I used a LOT of it. Way more than I was supposed to, even though it was the 10% version for sensitive skin, my skin was peeling like crazy and revealing newer lighter skin. I was so happy. This was like over a process of two days. I'd apply at night with lotion, wake up and scrub up dead skin cells. Then that same day I scrubbed off the skin cells, I should have stopped. BUT I got carried away. I applied MORE of the serum to my recently peeled skin. And it BURNED. I washed it off. And my face was really light and patchy in some areas. I was SO SCARED. I put on a lot of palmers cocoa butter to soothe the pain and walked around the house in sheer terror for about and hour, praying to God I hadn't ruined my face. After about an hour, I rubbed the cocoa butter off, and my skin had settled back down thank God. I didn't have any new skin peel off. I think because it had already peeled? I don't know. I still think it should have peeled off another layer, but it didn't. But what do I know? I'm just thankful I didn't ruin my face! I have a tiny chemical burn like right by my ear, but it's not noticeable, and I have a feeling it will fade in about 2 weeks because I had a similar small chemical burn underneath my chin with this AHA lotion I used a while back.

So all in all. I'd say this is a good product to use. Although it's NOT supposed to be used the way I used it. You're supposed to only use 5-7 drops twice a day (or was it once a day?), and I used literally a fourth of the bottle. Not smart. Lol. But like I said. I got carried away. I did lighten about a shade and a half. The first time I peeled I went up about a shade. The second time I didn't peel but I went up like half a shade. Be CAREFFFFFFULLLL. I'm just glad my mother didn't have the 20% concentration. Imagine me pouring 1/4 of that bottle on my face!! I'd be singing a different tune! HaHaHaHa. But yeah I like my results. I have these two little dots (acne scars) on my left cheek, and they are definitely less noticeable now, and I think my pores got smaller. And my skin looks a lot more vibrant. Woo hoo!

I swear my mother has EVERYTHING in her damn cabinets. And she didn't even notice I took the bottle. She usually never notices because she has so many products she has yet to try. Alsooooo. *Update* Remember how I was surprised that my skin wasn't peeling for a second time? Well... Take it from me... NEVER DO BACK TO BACK FACIAL PEELS. I know it seems like common sense, but when you shed the darker skin and newer lighter skin is revealed... Well. You tend to just get a little carried away. I'm sure you all can imagine the excitement of seeing the newer lighter skin and wanting to get LIGHTER skin underneath. Welllll. I started peeling some more. And I even CRIED because I had dramatic light patches in certain areas of my face. I panicked. Called a friend who had to calm me down. Told me to take a hot shower and gently exfoliate. Which I did. I slept for a couple hours without any moisturizer so it could shed some more. Woke up. Still had the patches but they were less noticeable now. But STILL noticeable. Globbed some moisturizer on. TRIED to sleep. But couldn't. Was a NERVOUS WRECK. Woke up... Patches had settled down a bit more now. My skin was clear and smooth but I still had a couple light patches here and there. When I put my make up on this morning though. I looked FLAWLESS. Like literally FLAWLESS. So basically my skin is lighter. But I have two light patches and they're both by the side of my face. Like by my ears. So they're not noticeable. But. I'm a perfectionist. This happened to me once before, I think it'll all be one color in one months time. Overall. I'm happy. My skin is lighter and smoother looking. I'm just waiting for these patches to fade out damnit. Be careful with peels. :( I'll never use a peel again.

I'm sure in time that the patches will fade. When I started using the ra/hq I began to have patches on my face, lighter new skin and darker skin that was exfoliating.. I remember this lasted for a while too. But, as I continued the patches faded and my complexion is quite even and really smooth now. No matter what I'll try to always continue to use retin-a on my skin for life, now I see why many people like this so much. Eventually I want to try the lactic acid on my face as well, but I'll have to give my skin a break from the Ra first so that it will not become irritated and burn much.

My pageant is in a month. :( Like I said. With make up. It's flawless. But I did this peel initially so I wouldn't have to wear any make up. AND after the first peel. It was looking like that. THEN I did the SECOND peel because I got greedy. And yes. Once again. With make up. FLAWLESS. Because my imperfections have flaked off just a few discolorations. I just worry that they'll have someone doing our make up. :( I don't want them to see me without my make up! I never want anyone to EVER see me without my make up. Sigh.

Much luck for your pageant Brown, I hope you win 1st place. If the makeup artist see you without makeup, not to worry. You can just mention to her that you have been doing facial peels.. she should then understand. But within a month, your skin may continue to really improve.
