As a first year teacher, my initial wage was $51, 500 and it increased by a fixed amount of $2, 100 each year.

a) Find the amount of my wage in my 7th year of teaching.

t7 = $63600

b) In my 7th year of teaching, what is the percentage increase of my wage?

Please help me - I have no idea how do to part b).

1. Well, even your first answer is incorrect.

1st year -> $ 51 500
2nd year -> $ 53 600
.
.
.
7th year -> $ 64 100

Another way of looking at it is using the formula

Your 7th term, is given by [math]51500 + (7-1)2100 = 64100

2. Your increase is $ 2 100
Your 6th year wage is $ 62 000.

Percentage increase = (Increase/Initial) x 100%
