I have had a condition for a long time. It consists of foot pain along the shaft of the 5th metatarsial. It is not near or at the ankle. It is not at the toe. It is along the outside of the foot and hurts badly if I squeeze my foot along that area. There are no fractures. Anesthesia shot into the main nerve between the third and fourth toes helped just a little. Cortezone did not help at all. It swells along th side of my foot some and gets worse when I walk a lot and when I wear certain tennis shoes that are wider. My podiatrist says he has never seen this condition in all of his 40 years. But I need help. I walk three miles a day. I also have nueropathy in my feet but this is an entirely different kind of pain. Someone please help me.:(

cribet,

I know you enjoy walking, but I would suggest you stop until the condition improves. Try swimming in the meantime to make sure you aren't making the situation worse! See another doctor for a diagnosis since the current doctor has no solution- there's no reason you should be suffering! Hope this helps, let me know if I can help answer any other question about your feet-
