When I go into MSCONFIG I see all of these abbreviations and wonder who they are for and what they mean. I would like to disable the ones that do not need to run and gain more running power.
Thanks,
Griffy2

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone elses. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

This site may help, If you GOOGLE MSCONFIG you can find more.

Windows startup programs. What are they? Are they required? How can I disable them? (http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.php)

Access MSCONFIG. Take the names of the files Ex. "ctf.exe" and google it.
After you know what this fle is and does, You can then decide if you need it or not.
It's time consuming but worth it :)
