the fan has a green and a black wire the remote device also does as does the ceiling. the remote also features a whit and a red wire which the ceiling doesnt have there is also the ground. what do i do with the red and green wires

Here are the basics with a fan. Black-hot for fan, blue-hot for light fixture, white is neutral for everything and green is ground. When you connect this unit to a remote receiver. Red from the ceiling usually means a 3 way switch also controling te unit from another location. If you fan wires and remote wires do not match by color I wonder if you have the correct remote, did it come with the fan?
