personally I doubt you can, and of course it would not cover the past event.

Also does your home owners insurnace know you have the animal, many may cancell you or specificly list them as not covered.

But your home owner policy to add the animal would be first call, after that check with the local animal control office, your local vet and do some google searches

I don't know Louisiana, but it's possible you cannot get the liability policy now, since you're a high risk. Chuck's advice on going to your Homeowners' company is probably the best place to start.
