If she's pulling try a choke collar, and hold the leash high up on the neck to keep her in control. Catsmine Oct 31, 2009, 05:45 PM A head collar may help with pulling, too. Does she walk on her hind legs off the leash? shazamataz Oct 31, 2009, 07:27 PM How tight do you have her collar? You should be able to slip 2 fingers underneath it, if it's more or less it needs adjusting. You might want to try something like a halti so there is no pressure on her neck at all until she gets used to walks. http://www.swellpets.co.uk/img/shop/original/Halti_Headcollar.jpg Catsmine Nov 1, 2009, 01:43 AM Gotta spread the love, Shaz, but that's what I was referring to as a head collar. Knowing what it's called is why you're the expert. shazamataz Nov 1, 2009, 01:46 AM Oooh sorry, I didn't realise what you meant :o Catsmine Nov 1, 2009, 01:55 AM Don't apologise. I didn't know what it was called. Showing a picture removes doubt about what we meant. Jennifer, if you could answer our queswtions we might be able to provide better advice. Aurora_Bell Nov 2, 2009, 10:09 AM Also calles gentel leaders, but they have the cheaper 'generic' brands at Wal mart, always though the Halties were the ones that went over their chests, I think they have 100 different names lol. Head collar works too. shazamataz Nov 2, 2009, 04:36 PM Head collar sounds less confusing ;) I just typed Halti into google to find that image, being in Aus is hard sometimes because we call products different things to you guys! Catsmine Nov 2, 2009, 05:15 PM So, we're all on the same page now about the collar. Whew! Jennifer, does she get enough exercise? Spaniels are very active dogs. They're bred to go through the woods hunting. At 5 months she's ready to take on the entire outdoors this afternoon. Aurora_Bell Nov 3, 2009, 04:46 AM Did he mention he was a certified Smart Aleck?? :P Cat1864 Nov 3, 2009, 09:49 AM Head collar sounds less confusing ;) I just typed Halti into google to find that image, being in Aus is hard sometimes because we call products different things to you guys! Shaz, he just forgot that a Halti is what we finally ended up with for Sheba, the Dobie. :D Once she got used to it being on her head, it worked well to keep her from pulling.
