I don't know if i should take him to the vet or not to get it checked out, but i'd rather avoid it if i can. Its on the edge of his right ear and its just a bump thats kind of crusty.. im sure its not a tic but it kind of seems like a wart. it seems to be slowly getting bigger and thats what kind of worries me. Any advice?

It could be a nip or a cut. If its crusty then its weeping, giving the illusion of getting bigger by weeping all the time. He cant get at it there, or it would probably be healed by now. Keep an eye on it, clean it with 3% peroxide (it wont hurt him) and you could even put a bit of antibiotic cream on it. If it doesnt heal, then take him to the vet.

That sounds a lot like a tick bite that he scratched part of the tick out and the head has become encysted. Keep it cleaned as tickle suggested and make an appointment. If it grows much further or bursts, advance the appointment. This does not sound like an emergency, but it should be looked at.
