The most likely cause is that your PC has the IP address settings set to manual.

XP - Goto Control Panel -> Network Connections. Find the right connection by unplugging and reinserting the network cable. You will see the icon change to Unplugged.

Right click on the Local Area Connection and select properties.
Now find and double click the "Internet Protocol TCP/IP"
Select the option, Obtain an IP address automatically and DNS automatically.

VISTA
Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center -> Left pane, click Manage Network connections.
Right click on the Local Area Connection and select properties.
Now find and double click the "Internet Protocol TCP/IP"
Select the option, Obtain an IP address automatically and DNS automaticaly.

If this doesn't help. Let me know and we could trouble shoot further.
Cheers
Grant
