So all you do-it-your-selfers out there, my question is what would you say is your 'must have' tool, the one you would not do without? With Christmas coming up I thought this might be a very helpful thread to start. Thanks.:)

Number one thing. Cordless drill. I could not do without that thing. There is so many things. Does this include things like a socket set? I couldn't go without them either but it is more convenient for working on cars. Then there are the sawzalls which are very convenient and a miter saw and jigsaws.

Anything cordless, I've got my eye on this baby, just wish it was 19v:

Craftsman NEXTEC 12 Volt Lithium-Ion Hammerhead Auto Hammer (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00911818000P)

This would of saved me from Carpal Tunnel surgery.

But you know?
A must-have tool is any tool you don't have at the moment you run into a bind on a project.

Something I found interesting was the dual saw.

Steve, have you seen anything on it or have any comments on it?

Hi,
I must agree with all said so far, and would add that fairly new vibratory tool for cutting, sanding, etc. depending on attachment. Sears has ads, and I believe both a German and Italian company have infomercials done by the importers.
Peace,
Clarke

Dremel. Rockwell and Fein all make that unit at prices varying from $100 to $400. Dremel Multi-Max Oscillating Tool, Bosch PS50 Oscillating Tool - Review | Tool Snob - ToolSnob.com (http://www.toolsnob.com/archives/2008/10/dremel_dremel_multimax_oscilla.php#) Great tool but not a must have kind for me. I just bought a few compact drill drivers and now can't do without them.

My miter saw, my sander, my planer, my lathe.

I'd love a new table saw. Hint, hint. :)

adam_89 agrees: You are to funny Alty. Good tools though

I really can't live without those.

Remember, I make tables, so those tools are a must have for me. Sadly so is the table saw.

I have one, but it's older then me, doesn't cut straight, wobbles. It's probably not even safe to use anymore, but what choice do I have?

Santa, send me a table saw for Christmas, I've been a reasonably good girl. I really tried! ;)

Sears has one, and it's 30bucks less expensive than the Omni, a hundred if you include Omni's fourth payment

I think the Sears would be easier to service.

Look up the serial number and rebuild it.

Are you saying that Santa won't get me one? :(

I'm saving up for a new one.

I don't use it that often, most of the tables I make only require the miter saw, but once in a while I have to use the table saw and it would be nice to have one that won't cut of a limb because it's unstable.

So far I still have all my fingers so I can wait. ;)

Here is the saw to get. It will cut wood, but not hot dogs or fingers. Safe 10-inch Table Saws ? How it works ? SawStop (http://www.sawstop.com/howitworks/how_overview.php)

It's built really soldid.
