Tatergirl91t Oct 25, 2009, 04:03 PM She is only four weeks old and we got her from our local animal shelter. She has bowed legs and tiny ears like a bulldog. But she doesn't look like any of the bulldog puppies. She has thick, rather fuzzy, very soft fur.
artlady Oct 25, 2009, 04:10 PM Thick fuzzy fur is more or less a puppy trait. That is likely to change as she gets older.
Its hard to say from the pics but she sure is a cutie pie!

I would say there is some Jack Russell in there from the markings ;)
Just curious, did they give you a care sheet at the shelter?
A 4 week old puppy can be a lot of work as they don't usually leave their parents until at least 8 weeks old.
JudyKayTee Oct 25, 2009, 05:17 PM The shelter in your area is adopting out 4 week out puppies?
Where?
Tatergirl91t Oct 26, 2009, 09:28 AM my mom told me 4 weeks but the papers say seven weeks. they also say she's a lab mix...but..isn't she kinda small for a lab puppy? especially a seven wk old one? shes so sweet. bless her heart, she's chewing on everything. can you give a pup her size a small bone for her teeth? or would just a toy be better?

Cat1864 Oct 26, 2009, 03:12 PM I don't think I would even try to guess until she is at least six months to a year old.
What does the vet say about her age?
Many years ago now, we adopted a puppy from the shelter where we were living. They said he was seven to eight weeks old. The vet said he was five weeks old.
They also told us he would be a small dog maybe 15 pounds. The vet thought he might have Scottish Terrier in him. He started out at 1.5 pounds and doubled in size each of his puppy shot visits. The vet gave up when he hit 25 pounds at about six months. He topped out at about 45 pounds.
He obviously had chow, lab, and Irish Setter in his genes plus only his ancestors know what else.
All I can say is he looked like a black version of your little one when we got him.
Just Dahlia Oct 26, 2009, 03:20 PM Oh sorry, it wasn't the original question, it was later:rolleyes:
Catsmine Oct 26, 2009, 04:49 PM I'm almost certain it's Canis Domesticus
fallen2grace Oct 26, 2009, 09:17 PM Looks like it has terrier in it. Maybe some sort of sheep dog.

It's okay, Dahlia. We all have those moments. :D
jmjoseph Oct 27, 2009, 05:41 AM Looks kinda like a Jack Russell terrier mix. They require a lot of exercise, don't they Shaz?
Canis Domesticus? Cats, does it hurt when you pull those names out of your butt?
Just kidding. You know I think you are the master.
shazamataz Oct 27, 2009, 05:52 AM Awesome call Cats :D
And yep joseph, Jack Russells are hyper little dogs, lots of fun if you have the energy to keep up with them!
jmjoseph Oct 27, 2009, 12:24 PM Catsmine agrees: It's actually a pun
Oh, I know it's a pun. It's a good one at that. That's better than a "sooner".
