If you are talking about Lexmark Factory New ink, then all you have to do is go to the Lexmark web site and look under the "Supplies" tab. You can search by using the printer model and it will return the current part numbers to order.

If however you are talking about using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem.

Most manufacturers, Lexmark included, build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges (http://www.fixya.com/support/t3260230-printer_not_print_changed_ink_cartridge) as well as re-filled cartridges.

They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality (http://www.fixya.com/support/t3260230-printer_not_print_changed_ink_cartridge) or damaging the physical printhead.
