Hi everyone,

I sure hope I put this in the right forum, it was a toss up.

I have some priceless silver, it's gorgeous, but, because it's silver, it tarnishes. I've tried the cleaning products for silver, they're a pain in the bum. I bought the silver cleaning kit, the one with the board that you place in water then dip. That didn't work.

I'm worried about using anything harsh. The set I have, a tea set, is really old, it has an ivory handle, I don't want to do anything that might devalue it, but it needs to be cleaned.

I've heard that ashes work, mainly cigarette ashes. I've been collecting (yes, I admit, I'm a smoker) but I'm a bit afraid to try it.

Has anyone heard of this? If you have, and you've tried it, does it work?

If not, does anyone have a suggestion?

I need to clean this set, it looks horrible. :(

Thanks Summer 7.

Sadly, I did try that recipe. I think my pieces are too big, that's why it didn't work. Also, my pieces have a lot of grooves.

I will give it another try though.

Thanks. :)

I only cleaned bracelets and necklaces with it. Worked great. It's worth giving it another try. Good luck!
