I have an hp pavillion laptop running vista with win mail & a desktop running xp prof with oe6. I have been trying to copy my email msgs (just incoming) from oe6 to win mail just to have them on both pcs. So far unsuccessfully. I exported the dbx files from the desktop running oe6 to an external usb hard drive; then connected the hd to the laptop & tried to import from win mail by browsing to the location of the copied files. This was the method I found in micosoft. However, each time i did file/import/messages from win mail & navigated to the folder that has the dbx files from from oe6, winmail says that there are no mail files there. I am following microsofts directions exactely. I tried using the transfer wizard too but it was very confusing & it didn't work. I wonder if my winmail file extensions are wrong. In the winmail folder they are:
edb.chk which lists the type as "recovered file fragments." Which doesn't sound right
edb.log
edb0000D.log
edbtmp.log
WindowsMail.pat
tmp.edb
windowsMail.MsMessageStore
WindowsMail.pat
and some jrs & an xml file.
Any help appreciated
