Hi all if I was to take my 8yr old male schnauzer into the vets to get fixed will I be able to take him home same day . I have a disability and he is my service dog and without him for one day would cause extreme problems for me . I know what is involved and beleave me when my wife had me fixed i wasnt in the mood to go romp and play . but I would have to keep him quiet for a few days and watch him for any problems but does anyone know if he could be an in and out kind of thing thanks Kirk :confused::(:(

My vet keeps them in for a few hours just to make sure there are no complications with the anesthetic, so yes, you will get him back the same day he goes in.

Luckily for the boys it's not as traumatic as it is for the girls, he will need to be stopped from jumping and his activity limited for few days like you said.
He may even need an E-collar to stop him chewing or licking his stitches.. they must be kept dry, so no baths or going swimming... if they get wet just dab them with a clean dry cloth.
