Hello

I have a Trane XE70 Electric Ignition Furnace. When i try to run the furnace, the electric ignition keeps clicking and clicking but the furnace never starts as if no gas is getting to it.
There is a gas fireplace. If the valve is off on the fireplace could that affect the gas supply?

Thank you

Matt

The answer to your fireplace question is that if the fireplace is the only thing on the line that has the valve on it then it will not affect your furnace.

There are a couple of things that could cause a problem that you describe. one is the pilot has a switch in it that is operated by the heat from the pilot, if the pilot is not burning right the switch will not heat up and turn on the gas valve to operate the burners. The next thing is that the gas valve could be bad and is not letting the gas flow through.

If you have a volt meter you can light the pilot and check the wires on the valve to see if you are getting current to the valve. If not take the pilot off and clear the orfice in the pilot.
