Can I change my dark black hair to a light brown without it being a permanent dye? It is my first time and I want to be able to wash it out with time just in case I dont like it. Or do I really need to go permanent. I would like to get a dark honey brown, how could I achieve that? Can someone help?

Youcan use semi permanent dye,That way as you say if you like it you can chose to change to permanent if so.You might be better going to a hairdresser for advice if your hair is so dark,to start with. Hope that helps.

You can't dye your hair lighter...
If you want to go from black to light brown you will have to bleach it first...
Unless you already had light hair and have dyed it black then you need to use a color stripper and THEN dye it the desired color because the color stripper will not get it back to your original color, only remove the bulk of the dye.
