Hey everybody,
So I have a best friend, we'll call her "Mary."
And two really good friends, "John" and "George." - (John and George are also best friends)
John and George (best friends) have both liked Mary for a really long time. Mary wasn't aware of this until last Friday, when George told her he liked her. Mary seemed happy, and more than willing to try a relationship with George. However, she was worried that dating George would break John and George up as friends, due to jealousy, etc. Yesterday, on Saturday, we all hung out (Mary, George, John, and myself). Something happened at the end of the day, and now John is going on a date with Mary.
I am confused, and surprised. It seems unfair, that George had the courage to express his feelings first, and George probably likes her A LOT more than John, and then John gets the girl. But I know life isn't fair, and neither is love.
To say the least, George is broken, and mad. How should I go about helping him?
And can anyone give tips on how I should handle this? How can I remain friends with John and George when they hate each other for this situation?
Thanks in advance for the help everybody!
By the way, if you need anymore details, please don't hesitate to ask. I tried to summarize to make it easier on you guys. All the important and significant facts and events are above though. - Thanks again
EDIT: We are all 17 years of age.
