Sariss, I know how much dog bites hurt. When I was surveying, I was bitten several times. The worst was from a chow. And he bit me on my knee, so I know the joint pain you're experiencing. My bite became infected, like J-9 mentioned, so watch it.
I am recovering from hip surgery, I had core decompression back in January, and still have another 10 months of serious pain. Being an addict,(in successful recovery) I am taking Motrin like J-9 suggested. The dose I am taking is prescription strength. It's 800 mg., and it doesn't completely take the pain away, but it takes the edge off quite well. The dose you get from the retailer that handles it, is typically 200 mg. Unless your doctor is against it, you can take 4 of those at the peak of your pain. Take this medicine, like most, with food.
I commend you for taking mild pain medicine, as narcotic ones are quite addicting. Trust me, I know all too well. I have proven time and time again, that I can't take narcotic pain medicine responsibily, so I simply choose to live through the pain. The pain of addiction is much, much worse.
My I ask what your job is that makes you come in contact with dogs? Are you a mail carrier? A Vet?
Take care, and see you on the board.
