It depends on the VCR and the DVR. VCRs usually have 1) an RF output (F-connector) and 2) a set of three RCA outputs (red and white - right and left audio channels; yellow - composite video signal). If your DVR has either of these inputs you can connect them by obtaining appropriate cables. DVD players sometimes have more advanced connections.

If you could post a list of the outputs you see on the VHS/DVD and the inputs on your DVR, we might be able to tell you how to connect it. A picture is worth a thousand words.
