what is the difference between shares & stock?
Please explain briefly share v/s stock in alteration of share capital.

Stocks represents your share or ownership in a Corporation. That term is used on Corporations and not on Partnership.
If by alteration of share capital you mean buying and selling of share. In Partnerships, you buy partner's share or sell yours. In Corporations, you buy/sell stocks to own/lose share in the Corporation.
