How do I fix a skipping cd? I've been looking at secondhand book shelf stereo systems, but many of them have cd players that skip. Thank you.

This might sounds blatantly obvious but how new are your cd's?

Perhaps it's the cd's that are scratched, not the cd player if it is happening with more than one unit.

You can buy scratch repair kits from cd stores.

Try cleaning the cd player with a cleaning disc. This is usually the culprit when my cd player skips.
