What do you have to do to change a gas furnance to electric heat is there alot of work to do this.

Simple. Just buy an electric furnace and have it properly wired up. There is no conversion available for gas to electric or electric to gas. You need to buy a brand new unit.

I agree with twinkiedooter. Just buy an electric one and pay the higher electric rate as is customary in most areas of the country. Gas is a lot cheaper (natural gas that is)
