Hi, a few months ago my Windows Media Player, Real Player and Windows Movie Maker quit playing my music files. I downloaded MediaMonkey and VLC player and they play fine on those 2 programs. I have been reading a lot about the SP3 service pack so I got rid of IE8 and the computer went back to IE7. I tried to get rid of the SP3 and it doesn't show up except for when I check My Computer Properties it lists SP3. I have tried to uninstall the service pack using the 3 ways posted on many sites but it never works. What can I do to get rid of this and/or is this service pack the reason for my other Music programs to not play my files. Please Help me...I am worn out trying to fix this. I am satisfied with the MediaMonkey but I really need an alternative to Windows Movie Maker that is free and easy to use if I can't get these programs to work. It is just the music files that won't play. I truly would appreciate any help you could give me.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Have tried Control Panel>Backup, Restore to rollback to a previous state.
Peace,

Yes, I tried it but I can't go back as far as I need to. My system restore just goes back to June 09 for some reason. I think I would have to back to 4-08 to get the think off.

Hi,
Then try CCleaner at:
CCleaner - Home (http://www.ccleaner.com/)
or EasyCleaner at:
Official ToniArts software pages (http://personal.inet.fi/business/toniarts/ecleane.htm)
to see if they will roll the SP out.
Peace,
Clarke

Two things can be tried on this situation:
----------------------------------------------
i) Start - Run and Type or copy the exact command
"c:\windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$\spuninst\spuninst.exe"

ii) If that didn't work, you may need to perform a repair installation of Windows

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I got the Media Player and Movie Maker working by downloading K-Lite CodecPack Basic. Everything works perfectly. Now I am wondering if I should go ahead and get rid of the SP3 or leave it alone for now. What do you think? I had thought maybe that was the problem with the programs.

Ok, that was my thought also. Should I get IE 8 back with the SP3 or stay with IE7 with the SP3......

This would be a personal preference but personally I have tried IE8 and chose to go back to IE7, just feel comfortable with 7 myself
