I am having a similar problem with the selonoid on my Yanmar 1700 Diesel tractor. I have a clicking sound and I was told to use a screw driver to by pass the key ignition. When I used a pair of pliers (not good I uess) there was a spark and now there was no clicking sound as a result. So I am changing the battery cable that goes from the battery to the selonoid and will see if this will remedy my problem. If not I will order a new Selonoid and see if this will work. I not I may need to by a new starter?

Hi,
Best to start your own post if it is not an answer to the post you attach it to. I did it for you.
I would say you get nothing now because the spark you did get blew a fuse. Check your fuse box(es) for th reason it does nothing.
Peace,
Clarke

My tractor will not turn over. At first there was a clocking sound from the selonoid but then there was no more clicking sound after I accidentally touched the selonoid with a pair of pliers. There was a spark and then when I turned the key there was no clicking at all.

Did I damage the selonoid and the starter as well or is the selonoid damaged only?

Thank you. I do not know where the fuse box is but I am sure I can find it.
