I have a riding mower with a briggs and straton, I just replaced a bad starter on it when I go to crankit it will make verry slow rotations on the flywheel. The starter (pos) wire heats up verry quickly to the point of melting the plastic ins cover. The tank was full of gas I went out approx 3days late and it was empty I pulled the oil drain plug and out come gas and oil all the gas in the tank somehow got into the block. I refuelled and oiled after draining the motor and it still would not turn over right it continues to have a slow 1rotation then pause when I try to start it. Please help me if you can if you need more information please contact me at [email protected] Thank you.

1. take the plug out.
2. spray spark plug clener in the spark plug hole
3. Put rag over opening
4. Crank and repeat steps until clear
5, Install new plug

This assumes that the system will turn over with the plug out.

I have and for some reason the flywheel is not rotating easily I can turn it by hand but it seems stiff the starter will turn it over but only one rottion per key twist.

It sounds like you might have two separate problems. The gas in the oil is typically a float needle being stuck and letting gas seep by and into the engine.

The problem with it not cranking is usually caused by the valves needing adjustment. Here is a video that will describe how to take care it: YouTube - Lawn Mower Repair Valve Adjustment (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjzX-PUjKmo)
