Hello There

I am on Green Card.ANd I am getting married with F1 student in November 09.Can I add her for 2009 Taxes and file jointly..If yes how can I do that.
If no Can I add her for 2010 W4 ?How can file as married?

The IRS considers you to be married for ALL of 2009 if you are married on the last day of the year. For this reason, you can file jointly with your spouse and she can choose to be treated as a resident alien for all of 2009.

She must make this choice by signing a statement to that effect and attaching it to the tax return. For this reason, for 2009, you will NOT be able to file electronically.

Once you are married, you can change your status on your W-4 to Married.
