In repair mode for XP, how do you over ride a password in order to complete the process? Or is there any other way to fix Windows without losing everything on your computer without the password?

Instead of the repair console, choose 'install windows'. At the next step, it will detect that you already have Windows on your machine & ask if you want to repair it. Tell it yes and it will overwrite all of your system files with original copies, which should fix most major issues. The only thing to remember is that you will have to go to Windows Update after it's done and re-install all of the security patches & updates

Accualy, when running the Windows repair, wait for the part where the setup installes devices.
It will say: "Installing Devices"

During this, press (SHIFT + F10), then type, "Nusrmgr.cpl"

Now you administrative rights and can change any user's password.
